E3D Revo Hotside PT1000 / HT / 400C No Nozzle review

The Revo HT Hotside allows use of a standard heating element and thermistor in the Revo ecosystem, including with the new Revo PZ Probe Coldside. The included PT1000 sensor and "High Precision" 40w heater allow for printing temperatures up to 400C. The heater block appears to be plated copper and fits well. The PT1000 sensor seems to work well when properly configured and it works well with a 0.4 HTX nozzle when printing PPS-CF10.
However, after just a few prints, the 40w "high precision" heater stopped working. Infuriatingly, just touching the wiring caused the measured resistance to return from infinite to the usual 16 ohms or so, returning the printer to service until I got around to replacing the heater.
Failing E3D heater elements has happened to me before so I have a few spares. Oddly, the standard Revo heaters have never let me down.
So, minus one star for a failed heater on an expensive Hotside.... I would have likely been better served with buying just the bare block.

Easy straight-forward install on my e3d hemera, so far it's printing ABS like a champ

This uses a PT1000 thermistor capable of measuring high temperatures accurately.

These Hotside kits allow Revo users to upgrade their set-ups to enable reliable printing at higher temperatures with materials such as PEEK or PEI. 

High temperature, abrasive resistance Nozzles. Much like ObXidian, HTX nozzles have a hardened steel tip and copper spreader segment to optimise the transmission of heat to the heatsink. This assembly is then coated with Chromium Nitride to provide abrasive resistance up to 500°C.   

Fully customisable. Configure your ideal high temperature HotEnd. Choose between a high precision heater cartridge (up to 400C) or high temperature heater cartridge (up to 500C).

Rapid identification. HTX nozzles are grey in colour and have their sizes engraved into them with easy-to-read numbers, so there are no confusing identification markers to learn!

Please Note:

You may need to adjust your Z offset when changing nozzles.

We do not recommend the use of abrasive materials with 0.25mm nozzles. The particle size, especially with fibres, can often be larger than 0.25mm, significantly increasing the risk of clogging the nozzle. 

Extension cables are not included. The revo extension cable kit can be used with chamber temperatures up to 80°C. If you require a higher operating temperature you will need to source the extension cables yourself.
