Description
Feed your Printer the Filament of the Gods.
Ambrosia Filament's line of PCTG (Polycyclohexylenedimethylene Terephthalate Glycol) filament is derived from 100% Virgin Grade-A resin. Manufactured to a tighter-than-standard diameter tolerance (+/- 0.03mm), you'll experience consistent extrusion throughout the spool.
PCTG is a high-performance copolyester and a natural upgrade from traditional PETG, offering excellent impact resistance, toughness, and durability while maintaining relatively easy printability. Its improved ductility allows printed parts to withstand bending, impacts, and repeated mechanical stress with less risk of cracking or breaking.
Like PETG, PCTG offers good chemical resistance, strong layer adhesion, and low warping tendencies, making it an excellent choice for both functional and decorative parts. Its enhanced toughness makes it particularly well-suited for protective housings, mechanical components, snap-fit assemblies, brackets, tools, and other applications where strength and durability are important.
PCTG also offers good optical clarity in suitable formulations, making it an attractive option for translucent or transparent prints. While generally requiring slightly higher extrusion temperatures than PETG, it remains relatively approachable to print without requiring a heated enclosure. A heated bed is strongly recommended for best results.
Key Benefits of PCTG:
-
Excellent Impact Resistance: Greater toughness than conventional PETG, helping parts withstand impacts and mechanical stress without fracturing.
-
Improved Ductility: Greater flexibility before breaking makes PCTG ideal for snap-fit components, clips, and parts subject to repeated bending.
-
Strong Layer Adhesion: Promotes durable printed parts with good bonding between layers.
-
Good Chemical Resistance: Suitable for many functional applications where exposure to common chemicals or cleaning agents may occur.
-
Low Warping: Relatively easy to print compared with many engineering-grade filaments, without requiring a heated enclosure.
-
Versatile Applications: Excellent for functional prototypes, protective cases, mechanical assemblies, brackets, and durable everyday parts.
Packaging and Specifications
- Arrives to you in a cardboard box, with filament wound on a spool, vacuum sealed with a desiccant bag.
- Derived from 100% Virgin (Grade-A) non-toxic pellets
- Diameter: 1.75mm (+/-0.03mm)
- Filament Net Weight: 1KG
- Spool Weight: 130G
The glue holding the filament spool together is rated for an environment of 70C (158F). If using a filament dryer or require the filament spool by placed in an environment exceeding this temperature, we recommend printing a spool clip (here).
